Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 August 2026

This notice explains how Engineered Efficiency Limited (‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’) collects and uses personal information when you visit engef.com or contact us. We are the data controller for that information.

We are a UK engineering, sustainability and economics consultancy. We collect very little personal data: essentially what you send us through our enquiry form or by email, plus standard website analytics. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we are

Engineered Efficiency Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, of Sun House, 2-4 Little Peter Street, Manchester M15 4PS.

For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, email info@engef.com. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZC039956.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you complete an enquiry form or contact us, we collect your first name, last name, company name, email address, phone number (if provided), your message, and which service your enquiry relates to.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting and analytics tools record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the date and time. See Cookies and analytics below.

We do not ask for or intentionally collect special-category (‘sensitive’) data, payment card details, or information about children. The website does not sell products or take payment.

How and why we use it, and our lawful bases

Purpose Lawful basis (UK/EU GDPR)
Respond to your enquiry and provide the services you ask for Performance of a contract, or our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries
Keep records and meet accounting, tax and legal obligations Legal obligation
Understand how the website is used (privacy-first, cookieless analytics) Legitimate interests; the data is aggregated and does not identify you
Protect the security and proper operation of the site Legitimate interests

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered your rights and only do so where they are not overridden.

Cookies and analytics

To keep this simple: this site does not use tracking cookies, and there is no cookie banner because none is needed.

To understand how the site is used so we can improve it, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first tool that does not use cookies, does not store personal data, and does not track you across other websites. It measures visits and page views using aggregated, anonymised data only. We do not use advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers (‘processors’) who handle data on our behalf under contract:

  • Cloudflare: website hosting, privacy-first analytics (no cookies, no personal data), and secure storage of enquiry-form submissions
  • Resend: delivery of enquiry-form notification emails to us
  • Microsoft: our email and business systems (Microsoft 365), where enquiries are received

We may also disclose information where required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

International transfers

Some of our providers (including Microsoft, Cloudflare and Resend) may process data in the United States or other countries outside the UK/EU. Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an approved adequacy mechanism.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. If you become a client, we keep relevant records for the duration of our engagement and for as long as required by law (for tax and accounting purposes, this is typically six years). Aggregated, anonymised analytics data (which does not identify you) is retained by our analytics provider for a limited period only. [Confirm specific retention periods.]

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information. Under UK and EU GDPR these include the right to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out).

To exercise any right, email info@engef.com. If you are in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk); if you are in the EU, to your local data protection authority.

US state privacy rights

If you are a resident of a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California), you may have rights to know about, access, correct and delete the personal information we hold, and to opt out of its ‘sale’ or ‘sharing’. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a request, contact us at info@engef.com; we will verify and respond as the applicable law requires, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
